Just take action.

Hey Reader,

Most entrepreneurs I know have a lot of ideas. Like...a LOT.

And yes, by "most entrepreneurs I know" I most certainly mean me included.

The reality is, we all have a lot of ideas. Otherwise, we'd likely not being doing what we do. You probably have your ideas in something like a Google Doc, a notes app, a Trello board, or in a physical notebook somewhere.

We all have our place (or places) we put all those ideas. And that space is likely filled with course ideas, lead magnet ides, podcast ideas, book ideas, new workshops, new products, and 5,000 other unfinished thoughts and plans.

And, if you're anything like me, you keep thinking. You keep brainstorming. You keep piling more and more ideas in there.

Heck, there's a better-than-average chance that 50% of the people who read this newsletter have asked an AI for 50 new content ideas within the last week.

(it's okay if you feel called out, lol)

There's nothing wrong with new ideas. New ideas are fun. They're exciting. They feel productive. They keep us inspired.

Now, finishing that idea...that's a whole lot less fun most of the time.

Bringing an idea to fruition is awesome and will light you up. It's all the time, energy, effort, and stress in between that will drain you.

And so we often avoid completing an idea and instead just come up with 10 new ones.

I'm pretty sure I just thought of 3 new ones while writing this.

But lately I've been trying to ask myself a simple question more often:

Do I actually need another idea? Or do I need to finish one I already have?

9 out of 10 times, the answer is NO to the first, and "yes, please finish something for a change!!!" for the second.

So here's what I want you to do over the next week or so:

Before you start something new that will eventually end up on top of the pile of unfinished ideas, go find your unfinished ideas. Open that doc, or that notebook, or where ever you keep yours.

Find one of those ideas that still excites you.

I find that more than 50% of those ideas no longer excite me, but several still do. So you'll likely find a few that are still exciting, but I'm asking you to just pick one.

Take some kind of action to move that idea forward.

I don't care if you finish it.

I don't care if it gets launched.

I mean, I do, because I want you to rock it out. But for this particular challenge...I just want you to take some kind of action on it.

Maybe it's finishing the first outline for that book idea. Or touching up the design of that download. Or finally hitting record on a podcast episode or video idea.

For now, I don't want you to worry about finishing or launching anything.

Just take action.

And if you want to take a little more action, hit 'reply' and let me know what action you took. I'd love to celebrate with you!

~ Jeff

I appreciate you.

Hey Reader, I recently came across an idea called The Coffee Shop Test. The original idea, from what I can find, comes from Lawrence Bernstein in a post on LinkedIn. I'll link it below. His post was about public speaking, but as I was reading it, I couldn't stop thinking about how perfectly it applies to building a business. So, I want you to imagine something. You're sitting at a coffee shop with an old friend you haven't seen in a few years. You're catching up and eventually they ask: "So,...

Hey Reader, Last week, I talked about how the question of "who is this actually for" is continuing to pop up for me as I work on a new project. While I"m still working through exactly who that project is for, I wanted to build on it a little...with another question that keeps popping up. This is another one that can seem simple and easy to answer, but is often answered incorrectly by the majority of us. Well, maybe "incorrectly" isn't the most accurate word. It's more like "not as accurate as...

Hey Reader, I've been in the very early stages of a new idea and it's continuously led me to thinking through what I think is a sometimes very difficult question to answer...but also one of the most important questions for any and every EDUpreneur, creator, author, entrepreneur, or business owner. If I've learned anything in my 20+ years of building businesses, it's that asking better questions almost always leads to creating better content, launching better products, and building better...
