🔍Boost Seo Now With Meta Titles & Descriptions

Hey Reader,
Before we jump into this week's topic, could you do me a huge favor? A couple weeks ago, I mentioned the new podcast I am co-hosting. I would be so appreciative if you could leave a 5-star rating on Spotify and/or Apple Podcasts. It helps us get more visibility for the podcast and therefore help more entrepreneurs like you. Thank you in advance!
I met with a member of our EDUcreator Club+ Community last week and we were discussing SEO (Search Engine Optimization). I've mentioned in it past emails, but we've never gone into too much detail.
I'm not going to go deep here, but wanted to share two fairly easy pieces of SEO that can really improve your rankings on Google and other search engines.
These two pieces are your site's (and pages') Meta Title and Meta Description.
Your Meta titles and descriptions let search engines know what each page (including blog posts and articles) is about. They help guide search engines and potential visitors better understand what they'll find on the page.
Spending some time on your Meta titles and descriptions can help you rank higher and increase traffic to your site.
In the screenshot below, you'll see one of the results of a Google search. I've noted how the Meta title and description display on results.

Meta Titles
The Meta title is a page's headline. It should clearly inform people of what to expect when they click the link and visit your page.
Here are a couple things to focus on when writing a Meta title:
Be sure to include the primary keyword that best describes the page's content.
Each title should be unique. No two pages should have the same title or primary keyword.
Use a tool like AnswerThePublic to see what words people are searching around your topic.
Google your topic to see what pages come up first. Look at their meta titles for inspiration. (Tip: use a private browsing window or incognito mode, to get the most accurate results.)
You can use up to 60 characters in your title.
Meta Descriptions
I've heard some people refer to your meta title as the introduction, and your description as the sales pitch. Your meta description provides a summary for the content on a webpage. This is helpful for search engines and potential visitors.
Google (and other search engines) typically auto-generate descriptions from what it deems as the most accurate snippet from the page.
Sometimes these are really good...and others not so great. Take the time to review yours and update as need to ensure they accurately describe what users will see if they click to visit.
The character limit for descriptions is 120.

There are a lot of different tools out there that can assist you with this work. Some site builders have built-in SEO assistance. If your site is built on Wordpress, you can use a plugin like Yoast or SEO press. (SEM Rush has a good list of plugins here.)
SEO can be complicated, overwhelming, and time consuming. Taking the time to optimize your meta titles and descriptions is a less difficult, but effective, way to improve your ranking and increase traffic.
Hit 'reply' and let me know if you'd like me to dive further into SEO in future emails.
I hope this helps"

Claude automatically generates Artifacts when it determines that the content is substantial enough to warrant being separate from the main conversation
If you're using Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Artifacts should be enabled by default
Apart from editing your Artifact, you have a number of other options for interacting with it.

First 5 Stories
One of the best ways to connect with your audience is through storytelling. However, sometimes it’s hard to know what story to share.
Here’s a simple framework to help: start with these five types of stories.
Your “Why” Story – Why did you start your side hustle or business?
Your Biggest Challenge Story – What’s one major hurdle you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it? (Or, if you're still working through it, share that too!)
A Lesson You've Learned the Hard Way – Mistakes actually make great content, and your vulnerability and authenticity increases the trust your audience has in you. Share a mistake and the lesson(s) you took from it.
A Small Win That Meant A Lot – Not every success has to be huge. In fact, most aren't. It's the little ones that add up to create our bigger success. Share a seemingly small win that actually felt huge to you. Maybe it was your first sale, a kind email from a subscriber or customer, or the first time you felt like you had created something special.
Your “If I Could Start Over” Story – What’s one piece of advice you’d give to yourself if you were starting from scratch today?
These stories help build trust, relatability, and engagement with your audience. They also make for endless content—blog posts, emails, social media captions, videos—you name it.

Hey Reader, I had a conversation once with a podcaster/blogger I know. I’ll go one step further and say this person is a friend as well. During our chat, she shared that she was in a weird place, feeling a bit stuck. She was about to begin a new role in her school district and is incredibly excited about it, but the excitement for this new position was having a seemingly negative impact on her EDUcreator business. She had been reflecting and realized that she initially started her side hustle...
Hey Reader, I'm excited today! I launched a new podcast! The Small Business BS Podcast is a collaborative project with a fellow entrepreneur friend of mine, Adam Witmer. We've been working on it for a few months and I'm proud to say the first 5 episodes are out. Episodes 3, 4, and 5 are all about websites: The 3 types of business websites, how to find the right platform for your website (I'm listing a bunch of options below), and a few best practices to keep in mind. You can find the show on...
