Step 2: Choose the Right Format for Your Lead Magnet

Hey Reader,

Last week, we talked about generating some ideas for you next (or first) lead magnet.

Now, let’s talk about format.

Once you’ve picked a topic that speaks directly to your audience’s needs, it’s time to choose the best way to deliver it.

And no, you don’t need to write a full ebook or create a high-end video series.

Your lead magnet just needs to be:

  • Easy to consume
  • Immediately valuable
  • Aligned with your offer

Here are a few formats that work great...

1. Checklist

  • Perfect for simplifying a process.
  • Quick to create, easy to use.
  • Examples: “5 Steps to Launch Your Podcast” “What to Include on Your About Page”

2. Template

  • Let your audience skip the blank page.
  • Examples: Email scripts, lesson plans, content calendars

3. Guide or Ebook

  • Still short. Still simple. But more explanation than a checklist.
  • Example: “Beginner’s Guide to Selling Digital Products”

4. Quiz

  • Make it fun and personalized.
  • Example: “What Type of Presenter Are You?” with tailored results

5. Swipe File

  • Share examples or resources you use and love.
  • People can duplicate them. They're ready to use.
  • Example: Templates for student engagement activities.

The format isn’t as important as the fit.

Choose one that helps your audience take action or make progress quickly.

No fluff. No overwhelm. Just value.

Next week - We'll get into actually creating your lead magnet.

For now, hit 'reply' and let me know what format are you thinking about using.

I appreciate you.

Hey Reader, Quick question for you... If someone asked, “What do you offer?” could you answer clearly…in 2 sentences or less? If not, don’t worry. That’s what today's email is for. Here’s a simple formula I use (and teach) to write a clear, compelling offer description: Fill in the blanks: I help [who] with [what], so they can [what they get/why it matters]. Let’s say you’re offering a 60-minute virtual workshop on student engagement. You could say: I help middle school teachers reignite...

Hey Reader, You’ve got an offer idea. You’re feeling good. And then it hits you… “Wait. How much should I charge for this?” You don’t want to scare people away with a high price. But you also don’t want to undervalue your time and energy. Here’s a simple rule of thumb for pricing your first offer: Start with "Easy Yes" pricing. Your first goal isn’t to maximize revenue. It’s to get your first few sales, build momentum, and validate your idea. Here’s are a couple potential offers and how I...

Hey Reader, When you’re ready to start making money from your ideas, it’s tempting to jump into building a full-blown course or complicated membership. But your first offer doesn’t need to be big...or perfect. In fact, the simpler it is, the more likely you’ll actually launch it. With that in mind, here are 3 offers you can create (and sell!) this weekend: 1: A Paid Resource BundleTake your lead magnet and build on it. Add bonus templates, editable versions, lesson plans, walkthrough videos,...
