Step 4: Deliver It (Automatically)

Hey Reader,

So your lead magnet is done. That's awesome. Nice work!

Now let’s make sure it actually gets to people when they sign up for it.

This is where automation saves you time and keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Here’s what to do next:

1. Set up a delivery email
In your email platform (Kit, Flodesk, Mailchimp, MailerLite, etc.), create a simple email that delivers your lead magnet.

Keep it short and friendly. Something like:

Hey [First Name],
Here’s the [resource/checklist/guide] I promised you.

Let me know if you have any questions or want help with [related topic].
Enjoy!

Then link to the lead magnet — either attach the file or link to a Google Drive/Dropbox folder or a hidden page on your website.

2. Connect it to a form
Set up your opt-in form or landing page and tell your email platform to send the delivery email automatically when someone subscribes.

Most email marketing tools make this part pretty easy. If your platform lets you, I suggest tagging the subscriber so you know what they downloaded. This helps with future follow-up.

3. Test it
This step gets skipped way too often.

Sign up for your own lead magnet and make sure everything works:

  • You get the right email
  • The link works
  • The file is accessible
  • The branding feels like you

4. Add a Welcome Sequence

Add a short welcome sequence (series of automated emails) that follows the delivery email. This helps build connection, trust, and momentum right away, especially if you don’t email your list regularly via a newsletter.

We'll get more into this part, what to send after someone opts-in, next week.

You're almost there!

I appreciate you.

Did you get to here?

I wanted to test something out this week. If you've read down to here and notice that a few things are missing, I'd love to know.

Hey Reader, Quick question for you... If someone asked, “What do you offer?” could you answer clearly…in 2 sentences or less? If not, don’t worry. That’s what today's email is for. Here’s a simple formula I use (and teach) to write a clear, compelling offer description: Fill in the blanks: I help [who] with [what], so they can [what they get/why it matters]. Let’s say you’re offering a 60-minute virtual workshop on student engagement. You could say: I help middle school teachers reignite...

Hey Reader, You’ve got an offer idea. You’re feeling good. And then it hits you… “Wait. How much should I charge for this?” You don’t want to scare people away with a high price. But you also don’t want to undervalue your time and energy. Here’s a simple rule of thumb for pricing your first offer: Start with "Easy Yes" pricing. Your first goal isn’t to maximize revenue. It’s to get your first few sales, build momentum, and validate your idea. Here’s are a couple potential offers and how I...

Hey Reader, When you’re ready to start making money from your ideas, it’s tempting to jump into building a full-blown course or complicated membership. But your first offer doesn’t need to be big...or perfect. In fact, the simpler it is, the more likely you’ll actually launch it. With that in mind, here are 3 offers you can create (and sell!) this weekend: 1: A Paid Resource BundleTake your lead magnet and build on it. Add bonus templates, editable versions, lesson plans, walkthrough videos,...
