What if you're not behind?


Hey Reader,

I have the absolute honor of working with some really brilliant and passionate educators who are building successful businesses and doing truly great work.

Regardless of if I'm coaching a veteran EDUpreneur who is trying to grow from hitting 6-figures to that quarter-million mark, or brainstorming with our mastermind to help a new member determine what their new business will be, one of the most common things I hear is people feeling like they are behind, like they aren't growing fast enough, like others are seeing more success.

This is common far beyond EDUpreneurs. All entrepreneurs feel this at some point. And most feel it come and go at different times.

The reality is, we live in a world where comparing ourselves to others is sort of ingrained in us from day one.

The problem is, most of the time it's an unfair comparison.

We love to compare our current success to someone else's, even when we know that person is in a very different place than us.

We often compare our "start" to someone else's "middle." But we also love to compare our "middle" to someone else's "a little further than middle."

Even if we're comparing middle to middle...we're all different. Every business is different.

Different ideas grow at different rates.

Different audiences warm up at different paces.

Different approaches create different rates of speed at different times.

If you're feeling like you don't have enough subscribers, or enough revenue, or you're not producing enough content, or you're not growing enough followers...

Whatever it is, I want to challenge to stop and ask yourself:

What if I'm just early?
What if I'm just in a different season than they are?
What if my business is just different?

I think you'll find that most times, it's not that you're behind.

You're just at a different point in your business.

Stop comparing your growth to the growth of others.

Instead, focus on the things your growth needs.

Focus on the things that serve your audience.

Focus on the growth you have made, and are making.

No matter how small you feel your business may be compared to others...there's a good chance someone else is looking at you and saying, "man, why am I so far behind them?"
